Board of Directors

The Board of Directors constitutes the company’s supreme corporate management body which, by way of its resolutions:

  • Lays out the basic principles of the company’s strategy
  • Supervises and monitors the management of company assets
  • Wields every form of authority in connection with the realization of the corporate goals, apart from issues which – according to either the Law or the company’s Charter – are under the jurisdiction of the General Meeting of the Shareholders.

According to the company’s Charter, the Board of Directors consists of seven (7) to ten (10) members, elected by the General Meeting. The Board of Directors serves a three-year term, which may be extended until the first Ordinary General Meeting taking place after the three-year period – before, however, the end of the fourth year.

The company’s present Board of Directors consists of nine (10) members and has been elected for a three-year term that ends on July 29, 2024. The composition of the company’s Board of Directors is as follows:

The Curriculum Vitae of the members of the Company’s Board of Directors are briefly presented below:

 

  • Chloe Maria Laskaridi

 

Studied history and international relations (BA) at the University of Reading in England and then made 2 post graduates in London, one in War Studies (MA) at King’s College and one at HR (MRS) at the London School of Economics. She carries out duties of Director of Corporate Development since 2008.

 

  • Anastasios Homenidis

 

He was born in 1954. Civil engineer (graduate of EMP) since 1977 and Professor of the ECOLE NATIONALE DES PONTS ET CHAUSSEES in Paris since 1982, specializing in infrastructure and large investments.

Since 1983 he is Technical Manager and has served as C.E.O. of E.T.A. (1999-2004).

Since 2004 is a Consultant in Development Investments with emphasisin tourist sector.

 

  • Nikolaos Nanopoulos
  • Nikos Nanopoulos has been present in the field of financial and banking services for over 35 years. He began his career at the World Bank in 1982, where he developed into a Senior Manager in the Treasury Department and then worked as a Managing Director in a brokerage firm, a subsidiary of the HSBC Group in New York. In 1990 he returned to Greece where he was one of the founding members of the Euroinvestment Bank of the Latsis Banking Group (which was renamed Eurobank). From 1996 to 2013 he served as Managing Director of Eurobank and under his leadership the Bank developed into one of the four Greek systemic banks active in a wide range of financial products and services. Since its establishment, the Bank has developed rapidly through acquisitions and mergers (Banks of Crete, Athens, Ergasias, etc.), consolidating its presence in ten countries in total, while it reached more than twenty thousand people in personnel. For about ten years he also served as Vice President of the Hellenic Bank Association and participated in many other Boards of Directors (in areas such as industry, insurance services, mutual funds, consumer credit, etc.).

 

  • Nikos Nanopoulos studied Mechanical Engineering (B.S., M.S., MIT), Economics (M.Sc., LSE) and Business Administration (MBA, INSEAD) and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Reading, England. Today he is President of DIORAMA Investment Sicar, S.A. (Luxembourg) and Chairman of its Investment Committee. In addition, he is President of EFG Investment & Wealth Solutions Holding AG (Zurich). He is a member of the Board of Directors of Aegean Airlines S.A. (Aegean) and Altius Insurance (Cyprus) of which he is a member of its Investment Committee. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Foundation for Economic & Industrial Research (IOBE) and the I. S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation. Finally, he is a member of the Association and other Committees of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation and the CEO Organization. He deals with youth entrepreneurship and participates in the Ádvisory Board of EGG (Enter Grow Go), a start-up incubator of Eurobank and is also a judge in the Investment Competitions organized by the MIT Enterprise Forum.

 

  • Thomas Miller

 

He studied Political Science at the University of Michigan and holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from the same University. He was a career diplomat for the State Department and served terms of office as U. S. Ambassador to Greece and Bosnia-Herzegovina and for the Cyprus negotiations. He is currently President/CEO of International Executive Service Corps (IESC), a non-profit organization that works in the developing world.

 

  • Vasilios Theocharakis,

 

He is a graduate of the Law School of the National University of Athens. Chairman and CEO of the Theocharakis Group. The Group has a significant presence in prestigious companies in car marketing, in shipping and also in the construction sector. He has more than 45 years of continuous and consistent business presence in Greece and has been repeated discrimination. He is Chairman of Marfin Bank – Egnatia, of which he was a founding member. He is also President and one of the main shareholders of Metropolitan Hospital of Athens. Apart from his business activities, he is also a well known painter and has exhibited many times his works both in Greece and abroad. His works can be found in various public places and Museums like the National Gallery of Greece, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as in many private collections. Important albums have been issued on his works. Since 2007, he is the co-founder with his wife to the Foundation “Marina and Vasilis Theocharakis”. He has participated in official State committees and is a member of the Industrial, Commercial and Artistic Chambers of Commerce. For the overall artistic and business offer, he has been honored by the French Government with the title of “Officer of the Legion of Honor“.

 

  • Suzanna Laskaridis-Ntoulakis

She studied fine arts, Art and maritime communication and completed her master’s degree in maritime law from City University of London. Since 2007 she has been with the company Shipping Co Laskaridis. and Lavinia Corp where she deals with all areas of day-to-day management. She is a member of the Board of the Union of Greek ship owners, the Hellenic War Risks Association and United Kingdom Defense Club. She is also the General Secretary and Treasurer of the Foundation Aikaterini Laskaridis.

 

  • Georgios Galanakis

He studied Law and Political Science at the University of Athens. He has been working as a Lawyer and Legal Advisor since 1976, with a specialization in Maritime and Commercial Law.

 

  • Maria Damanaki    
  • Maria Damanaki served for five years as the Global Managing Director for Oceans at The Nature Conservancy USA. She also served as the European Union Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. Under her leadership, the Commission introduced a new Common Fisheries Policy that brought fish populations back to healthier levels—from as few as five sustainable stocks in 2010 to up more than 30 today. She also served as a Greek politician for many years. She was the first woman leader of a Greek political party. Author of four books on Gender and Human Rights issues, Education and European Policy.

 

  • Maria Damanaki is a Principal Advisor to the Paradise Foundation (China), SYSTEMIQ (London) and Rockefeller Brothers Foundation (USA). She sits on the Board of Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, Oceanographic Institute (Monaco), Marine Regions Forum (Berlin), Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) (London), Friends of Ocean Action (World Economic Forum).

 

  • Tim Ananiadis

With over 40 years of international experience in the hospitality industry, Tim Ananiadis started his career at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, followed by assignments as Director of Food and Beverage at the Hyatt Regency(s) New Orleans, Hilton Head, Nashville, Buffalo, and Columbus. In 1988 he held the position of Corporate Director of Food and Beverage for Hyatt Hotels with main responsibilities of menu engineering, product development, recruitment, development and implementation of service standards and training, concept development and pre-opening new hotel support. Tim’s career as General Manager includes positions in the USA at the Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh, Hyatt Regency Coral Gables and Hyatt Regency Miami. In 1999 he joined Hyatt International as the General Manager of the Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki in Greece and later moved to India as the General Manager of the Grand Hyatt Mumbai.

In 2003 Tim joined Starwood Hotels and Resorts returning to Greece as the General Manager/Managing Director of the Hotel Grande Bretagne. In 2006 through 2012 he was given the additional responsibility of Area Manager for Greece, Turkey & Cyprus overseeing 18 Starwood affiliated hotels. From 2013 the area responsibility included the Balkans until Marriott International merged with Starwood when he took over the responsibility of Marriott Business Council for Greece and Cyprus while remaining the Complex Managing Director of the Hotel Grande Bretagne and King George until October 2020. Presently, he is the Senior Hospitality Advisor to the Laskaridis family and on the board of Directors for Lampsa Hellenic Hotels and Luckman Park Estate, both part of the Laskaridis family.

Active in a number of business and non-profit organizations, Tim serves as Vice Chairman of The American Community Schools (ACS) of Athens, Vice President of the Athens Hotel Association, Board Member of the Greek Health Tourism Organization, member of the Board of Directors for the American Hellenic Institute (AHI), and Tourism Committee President of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM).

Tim’s business philosophy of an ideal hotel is one that provides a comfortable, friendly and efficient environment for guests and associates while maximizing financial results through constant innovation, proactive management, and intuitive service. His personal guiding principal is “be kind and treat your associates the way you expect them to treat your guests and they will definitely reward you”.

Both Greek and American, Tim was born and raised in Greece and educated at Ryerson University Toronto, Canada. His career was equally divided between the USA and Greece, employed for more than 20 years in each country. Tim and his wife, Jennifer, currently split their time between Athens and Miami, and they have three grown boys residing in Athens, Miami and Dallas.

 

  • Katerina Karatza

 

Catherine Karatzas is a graduate of the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with an LLM from Columbia University. She is a member of the Athens and the New York Bar.

She worked with Shearman & Sterling in New York City from 1988 to 1992, when she joined Karatzas & Partners (then Karatzas Law Office). She has been the Managing Partner at Karatzas & Partners since 1996. Karatzas & Partners has been consistently ranked as Tier 1 Greek law firm by all major leading directories.

She has always been in the forefront of legal developments and has participated and continues to participate in some of the most significant transactions for Greek economy and often for Greek national life.

Catherine Karatzas was the first and remains the only female Managing Partner of a large Greek law firm. She has received the Pan-European award in the category of financial regulation in the International Financial Law Review Europe Women in Business Law awards in 2015, the IFLR1000 Women Leaders 2020 – EMEA award and has been in The Legal 500’s Hall of Fame since 2018. She is also a member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE).

She is married and has three children.

She is fluent in English and in French and has good knowledge of Italian
